The Girl Guides of our school laid the foundation to initiate girl guiding in the Negombo zone. Since then the Girl Guides have rendered a tremendous service to the school as well as to the society.
At present, the Girl Guides constitute 30 girls guided by a guide captain. The present Guide Captain is Mrs.Sureshini Fernando.
The Girl Guidesare actively participating in many events such as social and community services, camps and campfires, exploration competitions, etc.
They have participated in many All Island Exploration Competitions and were able to be the runners – up in some of them. Dilasha Fernando was awarded ashe Best Hiker at the MataraRahula Exploration Competition in 2012.
Under the guidance of the former Guide Captain Mrs. K.M. Chandraseeli, the Girl Guides successfully organized the Newstead Challenge Trophy, the All -Island Exploration Competition and Fiesta De La Diversion, the All IslandInter-school Fun Day.
K.V. DinithiMaleesha, Amaya Panamgama, KalasiPanamgama participated in the Sangam 45th Anniversary held in the Sangam World Centre, India. VinuriVeerapperuma participated in an international camp held in Hong Kong, inorder to commemorate their 95th Anniversary and she was also a member of the winning team of the All Island Spelling Bee Competition representing the western province team. Bringing honour to the Girl Guides, VinuriVeerapperuma got through the President’s Guide Award written and practical examination and by now has successfully completed her community service project.
