For the first time in the history, Mini-tennis was introduced to Newstead Girls’ College in 1998 with the untiring efforts of the then Principal Mrs. R. M. Senaratne. Since then, Newstead girls have been achieved distinguishing victories including first Places participating in Inter-school, Zonal and All Island competitions.

All Island Ranking in 2011
  • M. L. D. Prabuddhi Prasansa Perera(Under 10) was placed first by All Island Ranking in 2011.
  • Sanadhi Jayasinghe(Under 10) secured the second place.
NTTC All Island Tennis Tournament- 2013
  • Thiloka Induwari de Silva (Under 12) – Performance certificate
  • Denuli Minoja Jayakody – 1st Place Inter-club Tennis Tournament- 2013
  • Denuli Minoja Jayakody displayed distinguishing performance Asian International tournament – 2nd Stage - 2013
  • M. L. D. Prabuddhi Prasansa Perera - 2nd Place
  • Kavindya De Silva represented the college in international tournaments The present Tennis Coach Sachini Iddamalgoa has done an excellent service to earn reputation to the college in Tennis.
  • Sachini Iddamalgoa and T. Nimal Raj currently serve as the Tennis Coaches.
  • Ms.AyoniMelo and Ms. Ajani Perera are the Teachers-in-charge of Tennis.
